What is the plan for the day ?

The adventure begins early in the tropical mountains of Cocorná, a region famous for giant waterfalls, lush rainforest, and wild rivers.
The first experience of the day is a tandem paragliding flight above the Samaná Valley. After a full safety briefing with your certified pilot, take off from a mountainside launch point and soar above tropical canyons, dense jungle, and spectacular waterfalls hidden deep within the mountains of Antioquia.
Depending on weather and wind conditions, the flight lasts between 10 and 20 minutes and offers one of the most breathtaking aerial views in eastern Antioquia.
After landing, a short transfer brings you to the Calderas River. Enjoy a riverside picnic lunch before preparing for the second half of the adventure.
Following a technical and safety briefing with your bilingual rafting guides, begin your rafting descent across more than 12 km of class III–IV whitewater rapids. The river flows through pristine tropical rainforest surrounded by warm waters, giant volcanic rocks, and untouched jungle landscapes.
Throughout the activity, alternate between exciting rapids, playful waves, small drops, and calmer sections perfect for swimming and enjoying the scenery.
The final stretch of the river is the most thrilling, featuring technical rapids and exciting whitewater sections that make this one of the best rafting experiences near Medellín.
At the end of the trip, return by private transport to Medellín with an estimated arrival around 6:00 p.m.

Start-point

If your booking is withouth transport the meeting point is at the flight launch site. From there, our operational base is just a 25-minute drive along the Medellín–Bogotá Highway, next to Palacio de los Frijoles Restaurant. Depending on weather and operational conditions, we may also begin the experience directly from our operational base, starting with the rafting adventure and finishing with an unforgettable paragliding flight upon your return

For added convenience, optional transportation is available from Hostel Masaya Medellín to the meeting point. Alternative pick-up locations can be arranged upon request, subject to availability and an additional fee depending on the location.

What is the food like ?

Enjoy a riverside picnic lunch beside the Calderas River surrounded by tropical nature.
The experience includes snacks, drinks, and hydration throughout the day. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available upon prior request.

What's the weather like ?

The Samaná Valley has a warm and humid tropical climate throughout the year.
Temperatures generally range between 24 °C and 30 °C with high humidity, occasional tropical rain showers, and lush rainforest vegetation. Weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains, especially for paragliding activities.
